Direct Design Assistance: Cedar Riverside Pedestrian Planning, 2003-2004

In 2003 the Design Center was asked to provide technical assistance to a participatory planning process dealing with pedestrian planning around Cedar Riverside light rail station. Due to lack of funds the process was put on hold and the Design Center continued the project as a student workshop class for design and planning students. Students developed proposals for pedestrian systems, open spaces, and for how physical planning can contribute to community and economic development.

Outcome: Expanding Horizons won the American Planning Association, Minnesota Chapter, Award for an Outstanding Plan.
