Direct Design Assistance: Sustainable Mixed-use Options, Kingfield Neighborhood, Minneapolis, MN, 2004

This project built on earlier work with the Corridor Housing Initiative to develop concepts for the site at 3601 Nicollet Avenue. The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) was interested in mixed use development along Nicollet Avenue and had been discussing development options for the site with the owner. The community's priorities for the site included both residential and commercial space. There was also a desire to explore concepts of sustainability and green building on the site.

This Direct Design Assistance project developed a massing study for the site, based on some of the economic models explored in the earlier Corridor Housing work and input from the KFNA Redevelopment Committee. Illustrations of design options supplemented the study.
