The Maplewood Nature Center was interested in constructing a garage and enhancing their grounds by adding picnic areas, rain gardens, garden areas and other additional plantings.
They asked the Design Center to come up with some conceptual ideas for siting the garage and an area for picnicking and/or outdoor education.
The Design Center created three options for the Nature Center. Each option explored different locations for the garage and incorporated low impact design techniques to improve the sustainability of the Nature Center's landscape. The Nature Center selected parts of several options that were combined create the final conceptual plan.

Outcome: The options were used to allow Nature Center staff members to come to consensus on where their new garage should be located and what areas of their grounds should be improved, allowing them to hire a consultant to carry the project forward.
