Direct Design Assistance: Mapping Community Assets & Economic Development Areas, North Minneapolis, MN, 2006

The Stairstep Foundation, an organization working in North Minneapolis to revitalize local communities, was interested in creating a map illustrating local community assets to be used in discussions regarding community development activities. They asked the Design Center to create an asset map that located parks, schools, faith communities, public services, and areas for economic opportunities.

The Design Center updated the asset map created for a previous design assistance project to include all of the neighborhoods in North Minneapolis. Future stages of this project will use GIS as a tool for analyzing areas of economic development.
