Direct Design Assistance: Crime Prevention through Environmental Design Workshop, Twin Cities, MN, 2006

The Center for Neighborhoods is interested in issues related to the safety of neighborhoods and communities. The center asked the Design Center to help coordinate a workshop for community members highlighting case studies on design strategies that can make our communities safer and more sustainable.

The Design Center coordinated a guest speaker workshop featuring Dr. Wendy Sarkissian. The workshop will take place on November 8, 2006 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Workshop Description
Dr. Wendy Sarkissian is a dynamic speaker that brings a colorful palette of examples that demonstrate thoughtful support for better workplaces, better housing and planning and more sustainable and collaborative communities. Widely regarded as a leader in her profession and acclaimed as a humorous and thought-provoking speaker, Dr. Sarkissian is a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia and a Member of the International Board of Global Urban Development. Wendy will offer some case studies on CPTED strategies in Australia , and share creative solutions with local community leaders.
