The Friends of Elm Creek is a nonprofit group formed to promote and protect the Elm Creek Corridor Regional Trail and Parkway. The creek runs through the three jurisdictions of Maple Grove, Plymouth, and Medina. The comprehensive plan review process for each city will outline the future for development of these cities and will potentially impact the corridor. The Friends of Elm Creek is interested in creating a master concept for the corridor in order to protect and preserve the land along it both for recreational use and as a wildlife corridor.
The Design Center created a conceptual plan for the corridor which included photographs and drawings illustrating what the character of the corridor may be. The conceptual plan explored incorporating a parkway, trail network, and green space buffer along the creek. It will be used in comprehensive planning discussions.
