Direct Design Assistance: Northway Community Trust Mapping Project, Minneapolis, MN, 2006

Several foundations and organizations have invested grant money in the North Minneapolis area. The grants have been given to a variety of organizations and have primarily focused on work with children, education, and the arts, although other miscellaneous grants have been awarded. The Northway Community Trust, a non profit organization in North Minneapolis, contacted the Design Center seeking help in creating maps that illustrate where the grant makers and grantees are located, and what types of projects are being funded by whom.

The Design Center used previous maps created for this area as a basis for this series of maps. Maps that illustrate the organizations that were funded, the organizations that fund them, and the types of grants were created to help the foundations visualize the distribution of funding in North Minneapolis .
