Direct Design Assistance: Yard Design Concepts, Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development and Tree Trust, Minneapolis, MN, 2006

The City of Minneapolis' Community and Economic Planning Division owns several small properties that are too small for development. These properties are remnant pieces of land that will likely be transferred to the property owners that are adjacent to them. In order to ensure that this extra property is used to benefit the homeowners and the entire neighborhood, CPED would like to provide landscaping ideas that homeowners can implement. CPED is working with the Tree Trust to make trees available at affordable prices for the homeowners.

The Design Center is creating an informational handout that includes prototype designs which can either be used for the side yards or applied more broadly across their entire yard. The prototype designs will be given to homeowners in order to make the best use out of the extra space. For further information on sustainable yard design, visit the Sustainable Yard Design Series page.
