The Como Woodland Restoration and Outdoor Classroom is a 16-acre woodland that sits within Como Park . Although there are some native trees and plants present, it is highly degraded and is in need of restoration. In addition to restoring the native plant communities, the advisory committee for the woodland would like to see two historic features restored and to open the area to local schools and the public for outdoor study programs. The group is in the process of raising funds and asked the Design Center to create a design concept to help them move forward in the process.
The Design Center created a conceptual design that highlighted educational opportunities on the site and featured an area for an outdoor classroom, native plant restorations, historic preservation, and stormwater retention areas.
