Direct Design Assistance: Downtown Open Space Work Group, Minneapolis, MN

In 2005, the Design Center created an inventory of all open spaces in downtown Minneapolis. In 2007 the City formed the Downtown Minneapolis Park Space Initiative to identify areas where the city could benefit from additional green space in the Downtown area. The committee asked the Design Center update this inventory and include the North Loop neighborhood (which was not part of the previous project) to help aid in the planning for the proposed park.

The Design Center created the following products as part of this project:

  1. An updated inventory including open spaces created since 2005 and the North Loop neighborhood (1.9 MB)
  2. An illustrated handbook with photographs, short descriptions, and key facts for each open space (25 MB)
  3. An updated map to reflect the changes and additions to the inventory (2.8 MB).
