Past Projects : 2001 – 2003 : Regional Design Strategy for Greater McGregor Area

Design Center staff collaborated on a Center for Rural Design project, to create a regional design strategy for the future of the greater McGregor (MN) area. The project was based, in part, on the Big Sandy Area Lake Watershed Management Project (BSALWMP) mandate, "to provide a local mechanism to encourage equal partnership among all stakeholders." The design strategy sought to achieve the sustainability goals outlined in the Aitkin County comprehensive plan (2000), and reflected residents' concerns for managed growth that will preserve the McGregor area's current quality of life.

The Center for Rural Design is a research unit sponsored by the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (CALA), and the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (COAFES).
