Current + Recent Projects: Northwest Corridor Development Approach 2002-2003

This project was conducted after many decisions about roadway design and bus rapid transit design had been made. It was intended to help staff, citizens and stakeholders in corridor cities consider transit-sensitive redevelopment along the entire bus rapid transit network.

It included several activities:

  • An Overview and Issues section looks at relevant research and the experiences of other corridors to identify issues and approaches for the Northwest Corridor.
  • A Summary-to-Date lists and summarizes the various studies, plans, and initiatives conducted for the corridor.
Information Sheets provide short guides to housing types, street design, natural systems, retail centers and demographics. These materials are intended to be usable in discussions between planners, city officials, and residents.
  • A Fiscal Impacts Model provides spreadsheets for corridor cities that calculate the net impact of development on school and city budgets. Demonstration Scenarios show how the fiscal impacts spreadsheet can be used in four different situations.
