Regional Resources for Technical Assistance in Transportation
The Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) is a research unit of the University of Minnesota that studies transportation options and issues, producing research on transportation topics, from technology to design. CTS provides technical assistance to communities in the forms of education, publications and library resources, and web resources. CTS offers a Graduate Certificate Program in Transportation Studies.

The Metropolitan Council provides transportation services throughout the Twin Cities metroploitan area. Its web site includes schedules and maps, as well as facts and updates in the development of the Northstar and Central Light Rail Corridors.

The Minnesota Local Road Research Board (LRRB) is a research unit that works to improve the quality of Minnesota’s transportation systems. It researches materials and methods used in constructing and maintaining pavement; drainage systems under pavement; roadside environmental management; and bridge construction and maintenance. Many LRRB research projects are available online. LRRB also provides tools online including an asphalt paving guide, a geosynthetics design guide, and a list of city and county road design guidelines.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) builds and maintains roads and transportation services throughout Minnesota. Its web site includes a searchable database of transportation information, such as MNDOT reports, informational videotapes, and other materials.

The MN Safety Council provides information for bicycle, pedestrian, and automobile safety.
